ART in SERiES
This website gathers together a range of my work, organised into neat little series with fancy names in an attempt to make sense of the beautiful mess I keep making and make it sound like art.
Through photography and painting, I explore texture, light, decay, and abstraction, basically anything that’s falling apart or catching the light in an interesting way. Each series is a slightly obsessive journey into how we see the world, or more often, what we tend to ignore.
Taken together, these collections form a quiet conversation between chaos and order, surface and depth, and the occasional moment of unintentional brilliance... Or not.

LINEA
SERiES
Architecture, abstraction, and the joy of straight lines
In Linea, structure takes centre stage. This series explores the poetry of built environments, bold lines, shifting grids, and the quiet elegance of geometry.
Whether blocks of colour or black and white, this isn’t about brightness.
It’s about balance, rhythm, and the strange beauty of buildings behaving like art.
LUMINARA
SERiES
Luminara is the quiet sibling in the family; a monochrome series that strips everything back to light and shadow. No colour, no clutter, just stark contrasts and moody minimalism.
These photographs capture architecture, texture, and abstract forms in their simplest state, offering a kind of visual exhale. Think of it as a palate cleanser for your eyes, or a slightly dramatic black-and-white film that forgot the plot but looks great doing it.
It’s less about telling a story and more about holding your gaze - quietly, patiently, and with just the right amount of brooding mystery.

OBSCURA
SERiES
Obscura is my ongoing ode to things falling apart, a photographic study of urban decay, focused on the discarded, the weathered, and the quietly crumbling.
Torn posters, rusted railings, peeling paint, and the odd bit of litter that’s aged into accidental art - it’s all fair game. These images capture the poetry of deterioration, inviting you to look twice at what most people walk past (or actively try not to step in).
It’s about seeing value in the valueless, and occasionally wondering if I’m just photographing rubbish. But beautiful rubbish.
TEXTURA
SERiES
Textura is where things get messier. A series of abstract acrylic and enamel paintings driven by instinct, layering, and a willingness to get paint on absolutely everything except the canvas (at least initially).
Each painting is a physical response to energy, rhythm, and mood, a chance to play with colour and chaos in ways that often echo the textures found in my photographic work.
If Obscura is about observing decay, Textura is about creating it on purpose - except with more brushes and fewer bin bags.

ART & STORYTELLiNG
I’m not sure if what I make tells stories so much as it mumbles them quietly in the corner and lets you fill in the gaps.
The beauty of it is that you can bring your own meaning, or none at all.
There are no wrong answers.
Except maybe "it would look better in beige."
TAKE TiME
Now that you're here…
Grab a coffee, or better still, stick the kettle on and brew up some proper Yorkshire tea (none of that herbal nonsense unless you're feeling fancy). Find a comfy chair, take a breath, and wander through the site at your own pace.
This isn’t a place for scrolling past; it’s for slowing down, squinting at shadows, and maybe getting unreasonably emotional over peeling paint.
Along the way, you might want to dip into the Out of Focus blog, where I occasionally ramble about photography, art, and the odd tangent or two.
I hope you find something that makes you pause, smile, or stare a bit longer than expected. And if you’ve got thoughts, questions, or compliments disguised as critique - feel free to get in touch.
Always happy to talk shop.
Cheers.
